The Chinese Ministry of Finance has issued a circular setting preferential import tariffs for 2006 pursuant to the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, Viet Nam News informed June 22.

The circular No 52/2006/TT-BTC states that all types of beer and wine will be subjected to a 50 per cent rate.

The same circular states that categories of products including fertiliser, extractives to make dyes, paint, varnish, glue and plastics, and plastic products will enjoy a zero import tariff while rubber and rubber-made goods imported from ASEAN countries and China will face 3 per cent import tax rate.

Some categories of apparel, coffee, tea, pepper, fruits and vegetables, and beverages will be imposed a tariff of 20-35 per cent.

Import products to enjoy the special preferential import tariffs must belong to the list of goods and be imported from China or one of the ASEAN member states.
